Risk Management Focus
Office Risks, 3rd Edition
Overview
A properly trained and efficient staff working in a well-equipped office can provide you with considerable protection against potential liability by knowing how to respond properly to emergencies and other patient encounters, and having ready access to the tools needed to do so. Likewise, as we’ll see throughout this course, a poorly trained, ill-equipped staff can create a hornet’s nest of liability risks, alienate your patients, and endanger your license.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, a physician should be able to:
1. Explain how incoming phone calls should be handled.
2. List ways to avoid the most common HIPAA violations.
3. Explain the risks of allowing employees to perform tasks that exceed the scope of their license.
Target Audience
Office-based healthcare practitioners.
